i forgot that my secondary storage drive was in my pc when i was formatting to vista....i, like an idiot, deleted the partition on the drive, but did not format. now the drive is sitting unplugged and im not sure what to do. i dont know if i should use a data recovery tool, or if there are any programs that can restore the partition back to normal. if you have any suggestions please help, i have everything on that drive. also, please mention any programs or tools that you would recommend.

thankyou

I'm guessing you've reformatted it with NTFS? In this case I don't think theres any nice way to recover the entire partition. Your best bet would be to do per file recovery/undelete.

I've used R-Studio NTFS with success in the past. They have a trial where you can see if it can find your files. You wont be able to recover them without the full version, though.

EDIT: I am assuming the previous file system format was ntfs. If it was fat, or even ext2 you clearly shouldn't use the ntfs version
