Am I correct in assuming that the QC X3360 is the equivalent of the QX9550, and will work in an XFX 790i motherboard with a BFG 9800 GX2?
As long as the mobo supports the Q9550 then yes. Most boards will boot with a Xeon equivalent if they have support for that desktop chip.
