Cant find shared violation problem

i could not close a dcument,(3 doc. on the screen); turned off computer; now computer says it can't open the the document because it is a shared violation. What do I do?

Please put in the exact error message. Do you mean to say it tells you "the document is in use by another user"? Or do you actually get a "shared violation" error. Can you create a copy of the document and open the copy?
If you shut down the PC while in the middle of the open document, it could have gotten corrupt as well, which would give you an error.
