I was looking around on the forums and saw a great deal on a 8800GTX's. I was wondering if this power supply would be enough to cover my computer with these dual 8800gtx's

I will have this hardware go to with them:

intel q6600 @ to 3.6 hopefully
evga 780i mobo
4gigs ddr2-800
3 sata drives
1 dvd-rw
and case fans

Will this 750W be enough or will i be pushing it with the overclocking and SLI setup?

Could probably get 3 of those on that psu even with your overclock(depends on voltage. too much voltage takes ALLLLOT of power).

EVGA told me today they recommend using a 750-800 watt psu for a dual graphics setup and a 1000watt or more for 3 cards.  This is straight from EVGA.

I have this psu:

I'm leary of using it now after talking to them about it.  It may be enough but they said its basically a toss up.  Maybe they are just trying to cover thier behinds by overshooting requirements, I dont know for sure.

I have basically the same setup as you in a Coolermaster CM830 case.

They are just covering them selves.

check the link in my sig to get an idea of video card power use. even thats sometimes over.

Just remember your cpu clock if you are going 3.6 on a Q6600 does take allot of extra power...

My system takes 351watts(peak...averages 330ish) at the plug(according to my UPS) cpu full load with 2 f@h SMP's and 3d marks 2006. take off at least 20% for power supply loss during the AC - DC and stepping down of the voltage. 281 watts for my system.

Case: Antec 900
PSU: OCZ 700watt
Board: P35 DS3R
CPU: Q6600 @ 3.00
CPU cooling : Zalman 9500 @ 500-2200 rpms(PWM)
Memory: 2x 1024MB ,2X 512MB @ 4,4,4,10
Video: 8800GTX 600(core) 1400(shader) 900 x2(memory) - Factory OC
Storage:
2x WDC 250gig (Raid0)
2x Seagate 320gig(Storage)
2x Seagate 500gig(Storage)
1x 500gig Seagate (Backup-external)
Optical drive: Pioneer DVR-115DBK
KB/Mouse: Logitech Access 600, G9 Mouse
TV card: PVR 250
Sound: Creative SB Audigy 2zs
Screen: Samsung 950b (LCD)
Speakers: Altec Lansing Select 641

i think in 400 watts you can squeeze another 8800 and 600 mhz more overclocking(this is gonna be the power sucker, over 3-3.2 it takes allot more power) :)

Please note your psu is able to deliver 480Watts(according to ultra, this is all based on them telling the truth) of 12 volt power with the rest on the 5 and 3.3 volt rails.
275 or so for the video cards 205 left for everything else. So i think you should be ok.

I had 3x 8800 Ultras on a PC P&C 750w for awhile, I borrowed them from a friend to see how much that PSU could take.  Even then the fan only kicked in on high when I hooked up 3 8800 ultras, 5 HDDs, 1 overclocked E6750, and 7 120mm fans.  If it can handle that for a day it can handle 2 8800 GTXs for years.
