I recently threw out my dual core amd 5000+ BE as i had always terrible problems as 2 cpus OCZ.co.uk sent me had the old amd bug and were terribly faulty, due to this my dad purchased me a new pc rig consisting of a intel E4600 (conroe) no complaints there as i read up and found out it has a 12x multipier :) just like the old amd2 BE!!

Now my gigabyte mobo my dad got for me is a EPe5c-DS3R , this is a newish mobo from gigabyte consisting of energy efficent components and solid caps etc. ATM i have 800mhz nividia sli rdy ram which overclocks 2 1150 (MAX!) but this mobo surports DDR3

Ill copy and paste this info saves me typing :p

*DDR3:
2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 4 GB of system memory
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules
DDR2:
4 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR2 1200 (O.C.)/1066/800/667 MHz memory modules*

Now the ddr2 can be oc to 1200 as there site and my mobo box states and ddr3 consists of only 1333 (MAX)

Which would be in faster form 4gb of 1333 ddr3 or 8gb of 1066 ddr2 (oc to 1200)?

I read the article on this site of 4 ddr2 companys 2gb form ram @ 1066 overclocked and they all barly reach the 1200 target so what ddr2 can im at a lose here?

Also this mobo surports a quadcore system lga 775 now atm i got a dual core as i stated above this mobo can do this (ill paste again)

Support for an Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme processor/ Intel® Core™ 2 Quad processor/Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor/ Intel® Pentium® processor Extreme Edition/Intel® Pentium® D processor/ Intel® Pentium® 4 processor Extreme Edition/Intel® Pentium® 4 processor/ Intel® Celeron® processor in the LGA 775 package
(Go to GIGABYTE's website for the latest CPU support list.)
L2 cache varies with CPU
1600 (O.C.*)/1333/1066/800 MHz FSB

Which processor should i purchase as i want a 4ghz+ system as im a gamer and like watching movies etc without distress and crappy halts! (not saying this cpu does that), but i got watercooling!! so i would like something fast more cache than this L2 2mb (CHEAP!!) and hits a good standard!! Even another recommended dualcore that hits 4ghz will do? also the mobo as information reads overclocks a 1333 (cpu right to 1600) i dont realy no what that bit means but im sure its good!) Can anyone please help. Thanks.

What OS are you using? I'm not a big fan of ddr3, so I'd say (if you have 64bit) to get the 8gb option.

For processor, I'd recommend the e8600. Some people have been able to get it to 4ghz on stock voltage. I think most top out at ~4.5ghz.

first off wanna tell you that DDR2 and DDR3 memory cannot be use at the same time. Memory bandwidth will go as fast as the FSB allows it to go. so doesnt matter if you are running at 1200mhz on the memory.

you got a good base(watercooling) to start OC to 4Ghz. old 65nm CPUs cant get 4Ghz without high temp or higher vcore. so get a E8xxx(dual core) that will sure get you above 4Ghz. if you want to get a quad then get 9550 and above!but you will still have problem getting 4Ghz with that old chipset P35.so its not as new as you said it is. as you will need 470x8.5 to get 4Ghz. the P35 can easily get 400FSB but 470 is somewhat quite a far stretch.

DDR2 are far better option to go.
