Right, i just did a new build p5e x38 + e6750 + hd 3870 + corsair 650w + more not important stuff. So i turn on my pc and its keeps on giving me a cpu fan warning sigh. I got a Sythe katana 2 cpu heatsink and fan http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835185044 . Im looking at the temp sensors and the mobos is saying (in red) 32c, the cpu keeps on going from 23-28c so no problem there, but the cpu fan rpm is showing zero(although i can see the fan spinning). now what to do 2 get rid of the warnings? Oh yea the temp monitoring sensors im using is asus pc probe 2 (the 1 that came with the mobos.) I need help fast cause i just used up a bunch of money on the mobos and i dont want it melting down. thanx

Lol, I have the Asus Maximus X38, effectively the gaming variant of the P5E. With the Maximus some people are claiming stable operations at over 70 degrees with a 1600mhz fsb. I normally idle at over 40 (again 1600mhz).

Don't forget the Asus probe is firstly not very accurate and secondly its limits cover all Asus motherboards so 30 degrees may be hot for a low power board it may also be used to monitor while its nothing for your board.

Just to be sure...

You pluged your katana into the CPU plug on the MB right?
If you did not have a fan pluged there your MB would show 0 rpm.

Also, the x38 chipset run prety warm so 32c is not to bad.

You shold try Speed fan and Core Temp to get more acurate reading on your temps.

If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce today would cost $100, get a million miles to the gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

thanx people, yea i shoulda gotta better fan, this keeps on unattaching and is applied very loosely. But its keeping the cpu cool so i guess its working. So nothing to worry about with the 32c?
