eVGA 780i Motherboard slots

I'm getting a eVGA 780i Mobo for a new build (my first one) and I'm trying to make sure all the parts will work together. I was reading the manual of the mobo and debating on buying a soundcard and just using the onboard for lan. Now I'm not sure if the sound card will work or not.

Mobo

PCI Slots
The two PCI slots support many expansion cards such as a LAN card, USB
card, SCSI card and other cards that comply with PCI specifications. 1

Here's another card I might consider? (Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio)

Microsoft® Windows Vista™, Microsoft Windows® XP
Available PCI Express® slot (1x, 4x or 16x)

Whats the performance difference/benefit etc between the two slot types for the card itself and for overall system performance if applicable and will the first card even work with this motherboard? I'll be using a Q6600 so I don't think choking the CPU is really an issue but this is going to be a gaming box.

The XtremeGamer Fatal1ty says it requires a 2.1 slot and nothing I can find in the mobo book says that the mobo slot 2.1. Just wondering if it will work or correctly or not. The PCIe version would appear to work, but I believe that's a much lesser quality card too.

Bottom line is, will the card fit in the slot and is that slot 2.1?

I looked for your quote in the manual and the spec sheet for the mobo and it's not there. Pretty stupid to ONLY put that on the landing page isnt' it?
