Hi hi,

I've been playing with overclocking for a little while now and I think I have got to the settings that I will keep, assuming it continues to be stable for the full 24 hours in prime95

MB: Gigabyte Ga-X48T-DQ6

CPU: Intel Q9550 + Zalman CNPS9700LED cooler

Clock: 3.63GHz - 428 x 8.5 C1 Stepping

Vcore: 1.33125v BIOS Setting / CPU-Z says 1.312 idle - 1.296 load.

Idle temps: Tcase- 37 Cores- 42/41/37/42

Load temps: Prime95 Small FFTs: Tcase- 68 Cores- 72/72/61/73 (one of the sensors is stuck)

RAM: OCZ Platinum DDR3 @ 1428MHz 6-5-5-18 @ 1.89v @ 3:5 Ratio

Now those load temps are kinda high but I'm going on the assumption that the CPU isnt gonna get the kinda strain that prime95 puts on it, even in the toughest gaming situations. The TCase is at least under intels stated maximum.

I'm not very experienced with overclocking so some feedback on these results would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to kill the lifespan of the chip, are these temps / voltages OK for everyday use? or should I ease off a bit and lower the clock?

yea thats fine as you said its not going to be folding all day long, you did good but the only thing holding you back is your temps, so mabee a dable in WC will help and mabee you can get to 3.8+ with decent voltages.

well never really but the fps increase compared to the mhz increase, is smaller the faster you go, so a slow processer thats made fast will see a larger gain than a fast processor thats made even faster.
