My dv6000 is not picking up its cd/dvd drive

Hello, my pc is not reading the cd/dvd drive
i figured i could just go into bios and turn it back on but i have been unable to locate it in bios..

the problem started when i got a message that said something about windows was disabling the plugin for the drive it did this automatic.
so i really nott sure what to do about it at this point if the pc will not show the drive at all i dont see any options any help would be great
the pc is a hp pavilion dv6000 running windos vista...

Did there happen to be a Windows Update recently. ? Sometimes the automatic update (Vista & Win7) causes things to go awry.

Can you Windows restore back to date before problem occured ?
