Abit ip35 pro overclocking help!

hi guys

currently trying to overclock my machine my specs are:

mobo - abit ip35 pro
cpu - q6600
ram - geil 1066 mhz (5,5,5,15)

my fsb is currently @ 450 with a 1:1 ratio meaning my ram is currently clocked @ 900 mhz, my cpu is clocked @ 3.15 GHz with the multiplier set to seven if i push my fsb up any further my machine becomes unstable

my voltages are below

cpu vcore - 1.3
ddr2 - auto
mch - 1.25 (default)
cpu vtt - 1.20 (default)

any suggestions how to get more out of my machine

uh...that totally wrong. He does have it at a 1:1 ratio. His FSB is at 450 and the ram is running at 900 due to the DOUBLE data rate.

Anyways you will have to increase your vcore is you want to get a higher clock. Also what is your ram rated at? Your ram might start holding you back if its only rated for 800. To get around this keep the ratio to 1:1 and change the multiplier up to x8 or x9

Wow..you really need to learn some stuff before you start trying to help people out man.

DDR stand for Double Data Rate. PRIOR to any divider being applied to it it runs at twice the speed of the Front Side Bus.

Seriously man do your research before you start posting.


@stueeeb: I noticed that your ram is rated at 1066 so that should be fine. You might have to increase the rams voltage there a little bit to get your system stable but the big thing you need to do right now to achieve a higher overclock is to increase the vcore. I would bring it up to the 1.4 area (or higher assuming your heatsink can handle it) and see how much farther you can push the overclock.

YES his ram is running at 900 MHz YES his ratio is 1:1 because ram runs at DOUBLE THE FSB PRIOR TO THE DIVIDER! Do a basic google search and it will back up everything im saying!

For example: Lets say the FSB is 300. The double data rate prior to the divider makes in run at 600 (300 *2). Now if the divider was at 1:2 then it would be multiplied by 2 again equaling 300 * 2 * 2 = 1200 MHz

Exactally!!! Your FSB is 333. Now 333 * 2 = 667 for the Double Data Rate. THEN your divider of 1:2 comes into play which gives you your 667 * 2 = 1333 Mhz.

Now in stueeb's case his Front Side Bus is set to 450. Now 450 * 2 for the double data rate = 900. Then apply the divider (which is 1:1) which is 900 * 1 = 900 Mhz.

The speed of the ram is based on the FSB and the Divider. What the ram is rated for (say ddr 667) has no bearing on how fast it is actually being ran. It only tells you how fast it has the potential to be ran
