Which slot do you normally use for large cards?

Guys, I'm noobifiedly confused.

Looking at the picture below, whcih PCIE2.0 slot would you use for the larger 9800GTX?

I don't have either part yet but it seems the card is big enough it would hit the northbridge heatsink if I used the one closest to the CPU or if I use the other one, then it is jammed with my sound card and this other PCI card (also heat).

I'm assuming I should use one closest to the CPU? I also have an internal fan in the Lian-Li A70 case (two actually) besides the intake ones take can blow in this area so maybe it will help cool NB and the card?

The one that's closer to the middle (or the CPU as you put it). It is probably labeled as "PCI-e x16-1" or something like that. The one that's further away from the middle is considered the "slave" slot.
