Need urgent advice how to reformat a HDD drive whilst not in Win XP as I am not able to load due to corruption of MBR on the C: HDD

I have accedentally copied the MBR from my backup to the wrong HDD (D: data disc)compounding the problem. From what I can see I need to reformat the data HDD that was accidentally written to and reinstate my data (back up available).

I can then reinsate the MBR on the C: HDD. (I know this will work as I have done it before).

best way, xp install disk. boot from it and it had a partition editor built in so you can delete, create, and format partitions. just read the instructions printed on screen
