I'm after some help.  I have an MSI RD480 Neo2 motherboard and an Antec P180 case.  The front panel audio connector is plugged into JAud1 on the motherboard but the sockets on the front do not work.

Can anyone help as I would like to be able to plug a pair of headphones into the front of the PC when playing games but be able to use my main 2.1 speakers when listening to music or watching movies.

Is there a setting in the BIOS which will activate the socket on the motherboard?

Please help!

doesn't that defeat the purpose of the JAud1 connector?

Invented a new file compression... remove all the '0'. They are nothing anyways...

I was hoping to sort out the somewhat faulty connector or motherboard settings rather than use more wiring and money to get it sorted.

Many thanks for your advice though - much appreciated.

If you plug the speaker in the front connectors with nothing else plugged into the sound system, you should be able to hear sound.
There are normally 2 plugs on the same cable from the case: HDAudio and AC'97. Choose appropriately.

Your problem is that this case does not have support for HD audio on the front connector and the connector JAud1 IS for HD audio (controlled by the driver, default mode)

To do this, instead of a loooooong explanation, look in the manual of the main board, page 5-14... Everything should works fine.

PS: manual can be downloaded here http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php [...] ype=manual
