If you have a x38 board already, keep it. There's no real difference between x38 and x48. And I wouldn't go by some guy's claim on the iinternet. There are a lot of people boasting a lot of things. At 5ghz, the e8500 itself is the bottleneck. You will not reach it, nor will you notice any improvements over x38.

More relevent is the cooling used :D , Clunk was using phase.
I'd definately go for the DFi over the rampage. It's got a better circuitry & fuller features. Rampage only has a single channel CPUGTLref compared to a dual channel on the DFI & most other performance boards,
