Given that an SSD has faster random access but lower capacity,
I'd like Windows XP to see an SSD + an HD as a single logical drive,
and then have software that moves small files (and ideally any file that is observed to be accessed in small random chunks) onto the SSD.

Anything like this out there?

well, if you do a jbod of the ssd and hdd, then you get one partition. though, you cant control what files go to what drive unless you have seperate partitions
