If the Board specs say DDR2 800 MHz, is there any purpose to buying faster Ram? What's a good stable ram for use in overclocking this board -

Thanks -
Mike

Hi -

Thanks for the reply, I read that, I just dont understand it - They list ram upto DDR 1200 at the bottom. Does that mean the 800 Mhz on the board spec is stock and it can be OC'd to 1200?

Thanks

Sorry to necro an old post, but I'm looking at buying a dk x38-t2rb and I'm wondering the same thing. If the board only supports DDR2 800, is there any reason to buy faster RAM or to overclock 800MHz RAM? From what I've heard, mobos that only support 800MHz RAM will actually automatically clock down faster RAM.

Yes if you will OC.

While changing FSB you need better ram speed. But sometimes you can get DDR2 800Mzh that can make more then 900Mzh.

IMHO for you it's pointless to buy faster ram.
