Hi all,

I plan to buy the Maximus Formula and to put 8GB of Ram (Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400) on it, as I'm next to gaming, also do serious 3d rendering and modeling stuff.

now my question:

will that work?
I never had four sticks on a MB.
where the hell can I find this QVL on Asus for that board?

thanks to all

If it's Asus you can probably kiss goodbye to getting 4x2gb sticks working in their boards...best way is to post your spec on various sites and see if anyone else have 8gb working and what spec of ram they used.
The QVL for Asus is constantly changing and most of the time it's wrong.

Hello and welcome to the forums mate :)

U can use them
If a RAM isnt on the QVL list it doesnt mean it wont work, i myself have 4x1GB OCZ DDR2 800 RAM on ASUS P5K-E WIFI and i have no problems with it ( i have OC'd it too and its rock solid ) and this RAM isnt in the QVL list

Actually, this is not accurate. The specific chipset will determine your success with 4 modules, not the brand name of the MOBO.

Also, the best source of RAM compatibility info is usually RAM company's database. They have way more time to test RAM than a MOBO company does.

Example: http://www.corsairmemory.com/configurator/default.aspx

So far, the X38 and X48 chipsets are doing well with 4 modules so you should be fine. You may have to do some memory controller voltage tweaking.

I use 8GB of TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX on my ASUS P5W DH - running stable - no issues yet. I know it is a different chipset than what you are looking at, but this is one of the ASUS boards that can handle 4*2GB without any issues.
(didn't need to even tweak the voltage)
