Visual style couldnt be applied

Hello,
i have downloaded different themes and it works but when i downloaded leoparded X the visual style of the theme couldn't be applied.. So I thought it is due to the leopard X and I unistall that and I tried to apply the themes.But the visual style couldn't be applied .. what's the reason for that

i am having the same problem with my windows xp. It will not let me apply and visual styles unless it is classic, Classic is very boring
