Hello,

I put this (my first) system together over 3 days last week and upon powering up the hdd, dvd drive and the cpu, psu and case fans were all functional and correctly connected but nothing was displayed on the monitor. The led's on the motherboard did not match any of the led group combinations in the motherboard manual, also the led's for system stand by and the PCI Express slot the GPU was in being functional were lit. I looked for advice on the MSI website, and from the info gathered there I cleared the cmos and have tried using another cpu. The same thing happened.

I think it is going to either be a problem with the ram, motherboard or graphics card. The ram is currently in a dual channel configuration (, this is supported.) I'd be very grateful if you could give me some insight.

Try with just one stick of memory. If that doesn't work, it could possibly be a faulty graphics card. If you can borrow one from a friend, try it out, if not, RMA time. Double check all power cords are connected as well.

Not posting could be a billion things. Look throught the homebuilt section for posts about failure to post and im sure youl find many things to try. Once you try some things, and if it isnt fixed, come back and say what you have tried, then we can be creative.

Good luck

I always build the barebone OUTSIDE of the case & only put them in the case after I make sure they work.

There may be a shortout, extra screw/standoff, or a loose connection. Double check all connections including cables & add-on cards & cpu & cpu cooler. The cpu fan may be plugged in the wrong polarity. The 4/8-pin cpu power connector may not be plugged in.

Remove all the front-panel wiring. Short the PWR pins with the tip of a ball pen to power on the pc. Refer to manual for its whereabouts. Trust the printout on the mobo if the manual is conflicting. Each group of pins are in the same colors. It's not hard to figure out.

Man, this is such good advice. Always, always, try to POST the board, cpu, memory and video card before you install it into the case. Can save you hours of headache's later on, and a very good possibility of you frying something by messing with stuff you really didn't need to mess with. A lot of problems are caused by people not securing the motherboard properly into the case. This happens a lot, really does. If it POSTS outside the case, but not once you get it into the case, you know something is wrong with your install hopefully before you fry the motherboard. If it won't POST outside the case, then you know you definetly have a hardware problem. It is so much easier to troubleshoot if you don't have everything installed into the case.
