Why is Close Group is greyed out in Excel 2007 When I have multiple Excel files

Why is Close Group is greyed out in Excel 2007 When I have multiple Excel files open ? does this have anything to do with Excel 2007 Security update?

  1. it could be that you are "typing" in one of the excel documents. If you are typing, then it will not allow you to do many functions. Select a cell and DO NOT start typing if this is the case. Another posibility is that they are not all saved. Make sure they are all saved somewhere (i dont know why this is an issue, but its been mine in the past)

  4. Usually, when windows does not allow you to close a group, theres a reason (from my experiences). Your editing a cell, you havent saved something, theres an unsaved book1, etc. But as i stated before, if there was something faulty, or if the Security Patch needs its own patch, it is possible that you will need to uninstall the patch...
