Not so much a question about storage...but to the touch my HD is HOT...i mean...like...as hot as my laptop used to be running at 55-65C

I ran "SpeedFan" and got a reading of 41C on my HDD..

but i got a few other weird readings...

attached is a pic of the screen shot...

Hahaha LOL. Did you move to Pluto recently? Temp 4 is seriously WHACK
41C isn't that unusual - some older IDE drives got to 50-60 idle, but it can lower the lifespan of the HDD. I moved my HDD to the bottom of my case (because it has a mounting area down there) and I reduced my HDD temp to a constant 32C (on idle and on load). I'm quite impressed, and it works wonders and will increase it's life. You should try it if you can find some screw holes down the bottom that are designed for that. Cold air sinks! Use that to your advantage! Also, if it is really close to an optical drive, move it a little further away (if there's nowhere down the bottom). Optical drives can get really hot while burning disks. They can heat up your HDD quite a lot. Good luck! :hello:

You don't say what brand and age etc it is.. but.. most drives regardless of there age/manufacturer etc have a threshold of about 60degrees.. so I wouldn't panic, if you can arrange it so a fan is on there, and it's not underneath other optical drivers/floppy drives etc then you'll be fine :)
