Well, I just bought a PC with the following specs:

- Antec Twelve Hundred Tower
- Corsair Powersupply 750W
- Asus P5Q PRO, P45, Socket-775, DDR2
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz
- Sapphire Radeon HD 4870X2 2GB GDDR5
- Corsair TWIN2X 6400 DDR2, 4096MB
- Samsung SpinPoint F1 640GB SATA2
- Sony NEC Optiarc DVD±RW burner AD-7200S
- Creative SB X-Fi XtremeGamer

I checked out Antec's website and it says that the 1200 tower comes with

- 1 top special 200 x 30 mm blue LED exhaust fan with 3-speed switch control
- 2 rear 120 x 25 mm special blue LED exhaust fans with 3-speed switch control
- 3 front 120 x 25 mm special blue LED intake fans with front speed control

It also says that there is one optional side 120 x 25 mm fan to cool graphic cards, and one optional middle 120mm fan to cool CPU or graphic cards.

I'm thinking I should buy two fans for these "slots", seeing as the 4870X2 probably will get damn hot, so I'm thinking of buying two of these http://www.microplex.no/aspx/produ [...] lid=107238

Will these fit in the two optional "slots" mentioned above, and will they be sufficient?

I'm terribly sorry for making such a long topic for so little.

Thanks

Nico

I think you've got plenty of fans already. The HD 4870 X2 has a dual slot cooler with a vent anyway, so the case fans don't have to work that hard because the heat is pushed out directly.

If it makes you feel better, add the fans, of course. Order them later. First install the card and make sure the room for the fan is not blocked.

I'd prefer these fans, by the way:
Noctua NF-S12-1200

That is, Noctua is one of the few companies that actually deliver quiet fans. Lots of others are just lying about the dBA ratings.

Thanks, aevm! I actually ordered the PC complete (I'm a newbie when it comes to building PC's), so I reckon that the room for the fan isn't blocked. I'll probably end up buying two of those Noctua's later. Thanks alot for the recommendation!
