Updating motherboard storage drivers?

I currently have a RAID array setup using the Intel (ICHR8) chipset. I loaded the drivers using the F6 method during Windows install, and then installed the Matrix Storage Manager once booted into the OS.

If there's a new driver available, installing the latest MSM over the existing copy will update it, right? Or do I have to uninstall then install the new version?

I'm not really sure, but from what I've seen online, people just installed the latest MSM version of their existing copies. As always, back that stuff up to be sure!
