Ok i have a 32" tv and play games on it i have a x1950 pro but want a better dx10 card. what would you get for this resolution? any point getting the 8800gts 512, or should i stick with the 9600gt or 8800gt
e6850 asus p5k 2.5TB hdd, hiper type r 580, 2gb 800 mhz, antec p180b. oo budget i duno anything really up to £200. But what i want to know is there any point getting a 8800 gts 512 for such a low resolution?
Yeah get the 8800GTS mate.. you'll not be too CPU limited there at that resolution since you've a decent machine in all fairness.... it just means you can turn detail up higher on those lower resolutions when using a kick arse card like the 8800GTS.
Infact Im in a similar boat as you mate.. on a 32" HDTV with same gaming resolution... with E8400 @ 4ghz & 4GB Kingston HyperX 1066mhz Ram... all i need is the card to power Crysis nicely... the 8800GTS or the 9800GTX are both on my next purchase list. Depends on price really.
Hold it a second. I have almost the same exact setup as you. I wasn't able to use Nvidia cards with a native resolution of 1280x720. I had to use a custom resolution of 1219x688, which was annoying because some things didn't support that resolution. I recently switched to a 3850 512mb and it's been working flawlessly at 1280x720. A lot of people have this "overscan" issues with Nvidia cards in the Nvidia forums.
Personally, I'd get a 3870 if possible, because of the aforementioned problem that I've had with Nvidia cards on my setup. My friend also has a similar setup with a 37" 720p TV and has the same issue. On the other hand, there's some people that don't have this issue at all, but it seems a lot of people with lower-end 32" TV's have the problem.
