What should have been easy, adding two sticks of memory, went south when I was unable to post on restart. I found that one of the sticks wasn't properly seated and suspect that damage may have resulted. The D-Bracket 2 dances around and stops at : Initializing Video Interface, which the manual describes as "This will start detecting CPU clock, checking type of video onboard. Then detect and initialize the video adapter". The computer is powered up, with the HD spinning, but everything's black on the monitor. What's my next move? Can I somehow check the CPU clock? How do I know if my problem's with the processor, chipset or motherboard itself?
Apologies in advance if this question is below the standards of this forum. You guys are incredible.
No. Regardless of the memory configuration, it responds as described. Removing all of the memory causes it to fail the "Memory Detection Test" I've been using one stick for the troubleshooting.
