Yes, this board should support two HD 3870 cards. Its listed as having two PCIe x16 slots.

I knew that, what I meant to relay is what does 2.0 x16 represent, the 2.0 is the next generation of cards correct? what does 2.0 mean?

All cards are backwards compatable, except for a few instances with the newest 9800 series Nvidia cards and some very early PCIe buss versions on a few boards. (I think I saw somewhere they might have a problem with PCIe buss version 1.1, or something like that)
But with your motherboard this will not be a problem
The cards you have picked will work fine.

The 2.0 version of the PCIe buss is supposed to allow for higher bandwidth of the buss. You can read about it here, right on the front page of THG:

I most certainly will, heres my story so you all know where I am at, I had (2) Sapprhire X1950Pros running crossfire just dandy, 1/12 week ago I installed (2) Sapphire 512mb ddr4 3870 cards, now I sing the woe's, christ these things are driving me to drink with all the freezes during 2nd or 3rd round into COD4, bios flashed to newest version, all new drivers, dx9c, all that installed RivaTuner + have an 8" fan blowing on them. its really been a love/ hate relationship with these cards so I wanted to check compatibility w/ my m/b.
