$300 for a 9800 GTX? yeah the card itself is just a 8800 GTX but $300, Now those of us who HAVE NOT upgraded video cards MAY be able to get 3 way 8800 GTX OR EVEN ULTRAS sli'ed for less than $400. Whats funny is the 8800 Cards are probably going to sell like hotcakes while the 9000 series is going to collect dust. come April i will be trolling craigslist and newegg.

If the 9800GTX retails for under £230 I'll be buying one. If its more expensive I'll get an 8800GTS which will no doubt drop in price.

I can't see the 9800GTX being that 'cheap' over here though...
I can't see me swapping my GTXs for a 9-series anyway. Purely on speculation, the only way I'd change them at the moment is for either 2x 2870X2's or 2x4870X2's...
The GTX I bought recently was a bargain anyway (£155 on eBay, but XFX so lifetime warranty! :D ) so in reality, GTX prices have already been hit by the GTS and I don't think there was much of a market for the Ultra anyway...

I wanted to get a 9800 GTX, only to find out it was a refresh of the 8800 512 GTS, so I'll pass. Very disappointing and not even worth my money.

I'll wait for something better.

I doubt nVidia would charge more for the card than what ATi is asking for its X2 card.

Seriously though.. that'd be a well bad move. ATi's cards are all fairly priced... and if nVidia expects to sell lower performing cards at a higher price then they're going to lose market share.

IMO... 9800GTX in UK @ £230-240

Otherwise... I'll happily go 3870X2.

thats like ~ 500ish in USD, no thank you, what a rip off...8800GTs 512 for the win, suckas!

besides they both have the same G92 core but the 9800gtx has less TMU's...

8800gts = ~ $260 [much less with rebates] = 128 stream processors: 64 TMU'S :16 ROP's
9800gtx = an arm and a leg = 128 stream processors : 56 TMu's : 16 ROP's....

wth Nvidia, :pfff: :pfff: :pfff:

I really wanna see a comparison between the 8800GTS and the 9800GTX with the GTS bumped up to the same speeds. They will all do it, I think the GTX's are all using the better ram (samsung I believe). That looks like their only advantage.

You're comparing our (UK) proces back to dollars, doesn't work like that....
You're saying an 8800GTS is $260, i.e. £130, but in reality a GTS over here is more like £200, but that doesn't make the selling price $400 in the states!
I'd be willing to stake money that the 9800GTX comes out at £280-£350 in the UK and at $350-450 in the US. GX2 I reckon will be £375-£450 and $500-$650. i.e. GX2 will take up Ultra's territory....
That's what I reckon anyway.. :)

still a rip off..u can get a good 8800gts 512 for $260, i did just recently... plus a 30 MIR
350-450 USd for less TMU's and a slight bump in core clock and mem clock, yeay..... :pfff:
why the F@CK would you pay $100 more USD for less TMU's?

OMFG!!! :non:
