Hi there,

I've recently bought a X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express sound card, it works fine with sound directly from the card but i've got it connected to front audio and it plays for about 5 second and cuts off, says audio device removed or reconfigured :(

The connecter to the sound card is 2x5 female connector and the other end seems to only 8 pins, not sure what it's called, 2x4 female? at the front audio end.

Usually both ends are 2x5 female. not sure if thats the problem.

It obviously can work as it does play for 5 seconds or so but then cuts out as i said.

Anybody else had this problem?

Wondering if it would be any worth in purchasing this: http://www.trust.com/products/product_detail.aspx?item=15265

Also here's a print screen of the error: http://img175.imageshack.us/my.php?image=errorxm1.jpg

Any help appreciated!!

disabled onboard audio and the front audio option underneath also gets disabled once you disable onboard.

thats what i thought might be the problem but i got told if i enable onboard it will put my x-fi out of the window completely.

tried it with ac97 still same, tried it with both onboard and x-fi together, still same.

just cuts off, could it be a faulty card?

yes mine doesnt have that long connector, mines just like the 2x5 female, the standard connector used for most front panel audio.

thats the only connector on the card.

was looking at the x-fi drive bay, do you think that would fix it? as it would go through that rather than my current front panel.
