New Build shuts down after <10 seconds

I just finished putting together my second system(first time 3 years ago) and am having problems when booting up. I'll usually get around 10 seconds into booting up(bios is starting and such) when the computer shuts off without warning. When I try to turn it back on it'll only last around 2-3 seconds the second time. Can anyone help me with some suggestions of what to check out?

More about build shuts seconds
  1. Remove ram, try each of the sticks in each of the slot until the pc posts, once it does, go to bios & set up ram to the specs. Generally, the ram may need more voltage. 2.1v or less. The mobo may default to 1.8v.

If no luck, disconnect power cord, press power button in the case to discharge capacitors, clear cmos as per manual, try again.

If still no dice, move the barebone outside the case & try it on the mobo box. Just mobo, cpu, ram & gpu. Short the PWR pins with the tip of a ball pen or pencil. Refer to the mobo manual for the pin-outs.

If that fails, professional help is in order. Bring the whole thing to a local computer store for a checkup.
  2. Is your CPU cooler seated properly on the CPU?
  3. Well it turns out the problem was with the wall outlet. I was building the comp in a room I rarely use and it just couldn't handle the 800w on turbo(whatever that does). Once I switched it to normal everything's been fine so far :) Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
