9800 GX2 is for sale a newegg.. i just did a got one and well be selling my 8800GTX ..i went with the EVGA model !!! There all going for 599us dollers!!
I order two of them at 6am this morning, also a 28" LCD to go with them. I used overnite shipping,so they should be here sometime tomorrow morning if newegg does its job right. Now i have to wait till the 25th for two 9800GTX's. Ill use my 512 8800GTS's to step up to the 9800GTX's. Had to sell my three 8800 ultras to buy the GX2s. Now it's waiting a week for Quad SLI drivers. I just recieved 8GBs of PC 8500 Patriot Vipers also.

Do you expect a performance increase? I would be a bit nervous that it isn't going to do all that much better than 3 Ultras. None the less, I am interested in how it works for you.

Waly I kinda do take it back about the GX2... I want one myself but its too expensive for the performance it offers.
Let us know how you get on with performance tho... If you have Crysis would you please take the time to play it at 1360x768 resolution at Ultra High settings and let me know what the FPS are...

Most definitely! i well do benchmarks overclock it to its fullest see what i can get it to :0 !! I have crysis and well let you know what i get ...
Ok cheers. The reason I ask it because I game at that resolution and if its really performing at that res I'll buy one, as Ive mentioned many a time before... i dont mind paying for a card that will do the job.
Must i add that you need a min of 600watt power supply...Requirements
Minimum of a 600 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 28 Amp Amps.)
Wayyyyyyy too expensive. My 8800GTX will do for now
Truthfully i am doing the steup up program with evga i paid 509.99$ for my 8800gtx so i am putting 80$ on top tradeing my 8800gtx in for the 9800gx2.... so for 80 dollers it seems worth it to me

I must say, thats about the only situation where I'd even consider getting the gx2.
This card is way expensive and it doesn't perform how it suppose to. I'll stick with my Akimbo cooled 8800gt overclocked. It always good to buy the 2nd gen of newer cards, just my tip. (explain) had the 7950gx2 the 8800gtx came out was mad but too expensive waited a whole year and the 8800gt came out and it was at my price range at the moment and bought that and was happy ever since.
To waly:
If they come out with the 10 series like in August or even October. What would you do then?

Walys case senario, why not.
But I still would'd get it because when the next gen cards come out we're EEEFFFFed!

When I read all the posts about the 9800GX2 I always laugh.
Waly, good deal. As for nvidia and everyone else who owns a gtx, ultra or gts, they shot themselves in the foot and is spoiled by the success of the cards.
When the gtx and ultra came out, people bought them for the 600 and up price tag that was put on them because of the major gains seen compared to the options at that time. A year or more later, the 9800gx2 comes out for around the same price and people is screaming murder mainly because of the price/performance ratio. Come on Nvidia, get off you high horse, you have competition now.
Nvidia is shooting themselves in the foot as they are trying to price this card ultra and gtx prices, with a few gains and cheaper options out there.
As I see it, nvidia has 2 options, kill the sales of this card or the ultra and gtx, because I don't think that both can live in this market at the given prices and the various options available.
