The ports on the motherboard don't fit up against the I/O panel.

I've installed the standoffs in the right spot and screwed in the motherboard, but the ports don't fit right up against the I/O panel like they do on my other computer, and some of the USB ports are a little bit below the opening, which means it takes a little strength to plug something into it. (There is considerable resistance, and I don't want to damage the plug or the port.) There are other USB ports, but this probably shouldn't be happening. What did I do wrong? Will this just correct itself in time as the metal and everything shifts and adjusts? Thanks.

Make sure you used the I/O panel that came with the motherboard, not the one that came with the case.
It should match up exactly.

Make sure you used the standoffs that came with the case. There are different lengths of standoffs.

I've done both. I've switched the I/O panel and used the case standoffs.
