Total $1148. You might get a different monitor for like $50-$100 cheaper rate. I always suggest the Intel E6750 rather than Q6600 because the quad Q6600 is NOT, repeat NOT faster than the dual core E6750 in MOST apps and ALL games. Moreover, the E6750 costs $100 less than the quad.

If you're willing to wait a month or so...get the E8400.

That's a solid build, especially being able to fit some seriously high quality speakers in there. The only thing I would change is go with a 19" monitor to improve your gaming fps because of a slightly lower res. This will decrease the build by enough to fit a 500-600w qaulity PSU which will be a little above the minimum of 429w that is recommended at the link below. Corsair is an excellent brand though

im in the uk , so ill beable to get the e8400 just now for £150 which makes it the same price as the q6600 quad
could i not just overclock the quadcore too 3.00 ghz with the system you suggested

You can oc any of the proc mentioned. The reports on the 8000 series processors are outstanding.

My understanding is if you are going to oc the 8000 series you can acheive 3.8-4.0 Ghz on air.

But not with the stock HSF. You will need to add another $50 to $80 for a better HSF.

ok firstly, stick to one post...its weird to type the same thing on 2 posts. :)

Yes the e8400 works very well with the DS3L....this board supports all the Penryns. But then e8400 is very expensive at the moment and in short supply. One of the principal reasons to buy the e8400 is that its $100 cheaper than the q6600. and faster too. So its up2 u. Regarding the GPU, ive written on your other post.
