I'm hoping someone can give me some advice.I have at the moment an 8800 Ultra and i'm not sure if should take out my sound card and put in another Ultra as my cooler takes up the other spot on my 780i motherboard and run with onboard sound or keep the soundcard and swap the Ultra for a 9800gx2 .The processor i'm using is a QX9650 at 4ghz this will be mainly for gaming.I'd be very thankful for any coments
Read some reviews, in fact Tomshardware.com has a review up right now. You might be better doing another Ultra. As far as onboard sound, have you used your onboard sound? My sli board uses realtek HD sound outputs, quite frankly, it sounds pretty good to me.
yeah or since you obviously spare no expense in getting high-end hardware, why not go with a PCI-e 1x soundcard, the ASUS d2x should be more than enough, if u want try the creative versions of the x-fi on teh PCI-e 1x but the Asus seems to be getting reveiws and so on and so on.
and yes the ultra over the 9800gx2 is the way to go only b/c the ultra as a single card is more powerful [the best of the G80's, period!] in some area than the 9800gx2, so just sli the ultra, if u can still find it.
Thanks, whats the possibility of using 2 x 9800gx2 in sli or will this depend on drivers and what kind of power supply would you need? i have a coolermaster 1000w at the moment should that be enough juice?
Even after spending that amount you might not be able to play Crysis ( only game which your Ultra cant max out) @ 1920 by 1200 with everything at Ultra High...
1 card doesn't really play crysis at 1920 x 1200 on high at the moment maybe i keep the 1 card and skip a generation cos it doesn't look like the 9800gtx is going to be the big step up everyone was hoping for .

You could do....
But dont buy a 9800GX2 for $599, they are worth $400 max...
A week after the launch you will be able to get 2 8800gts's for $400 or so, get them and sell your Ultra...
Should get $300 to $250 for the Ultra, overclock the 8800gts's and you have a monster for just over $100...
If i get this cheap evga 8800 ultra ko will it work with my standard evga 8800 ultra ? I'm not planning on messing around with the speeds of the things etc..
