I'm hoping someone can give me some advice.I have at the moment an  8800 Ultra and i'm not sure if should take out my sound card and put in another Ultra as my cooler takes up the other spot on my 780i motherboard and run with onboard sound or keep the soundcard and swap the Ultra for a 9800gx2 .The processor i'm using is a QX9650 at 4ghz this will be mainly for gaming.I'd be very thankful for any coments

Read some reviews, in fact Tomshardware.com has a review up right now.  You might be better doing another Ultra.  As far as onboard sound, have you used your onboard sound?  My sli board uses realtek HD sound outputs, quite frankly, it sounds pretty good to me.

yeah or since you obviously spare no expense in getting high-end hardware, why not go with a PCI-e 1x soundcard, the ASUS d2x should be more than enough, if u want try the creative versions of the x-fi on teh PCI-e 1x but the Asus seems to be getting reveiws and so on and so on.

and yes the ultra over the 9800gx2 is the way to go only b/c the ultra as a single card is more powerful  [the best of the G80's, period!] in some area than the 9800gx2, so just sli the ultra, if u can still find it.

A second ultra is the only way to go.

9800GX2 = 2 8800gts @ stock speed...

The only people that should buy the 9800gx2 are guys with a non sli board/crossfire..

2 by 8800 ultra's are faster than a 9800gx2, but where can ou get an Ultra for $350?

If I was you I would sell that Ultra while you can for $300 or so, and wait for the drop in price of the 8800gt/8800gts and Sli them...

8800gt should go to $170, 8800gts $210

Thanks, whats the possibility of using 2 x 9800gx2 in sli or will this depend on drivers and what kind of power supply would you need? i have a coolermaster 1000w at the moment should that be enough juice?

I can get a eVGA 8800 Ultra KO for a good price at the moment will it work with a standard eVGA 8800 Ultra?

You should have enough juice...

But spending $1200 on graphics card is madness..

Even after spending that amount you might not be able to play Crysis ( only game which your Ultra cant max out) @ 1920 by 1200 with everything at Ultra High...

1 card doesn't really play crysis at 1920 x 1200 on high at the moment maybe i keep the 1 card and skip a generation cos it doesn't look like the 9800gtx is going to be the big step up everyone was hoping for .

You could do....

But dont buy a 9800GX2 for $599, they are worth $400 max...

A week after the launch you will be able to get 2 8800gts's for $400 or so, get them and sell your Ultra...

Should get $300 to $250 for the Ultra, overclock the 8800gts's and you have a monster for just over $100...

Yes...

It doesn't just OC to ultra clocks it goes well beyond them...

8800gts's scale very well too and 2 of them Overclocked to well beyond Ultra clocks, are wickedly fast...

(Your Ultra would get 30fps compared to 52fps 8800gts sli)

How is it the way to go when 2 8800gts's which cost $150 less, outperform it a stock speed, never mind when you overclock them...

An Ultra for £200, more like £240 imo...

Thats £230 for 50% to 60% extra performance, or you could get sell the Ultra for £200 or so and get 2 8800gts's for £320

£120 for 60% extra performance ( maybe more if you overclock the **** out of them)

M vote goes to a second ultra. With EAX on its way out due to vista. onboard may not be too bad for games.

The extra memory on the ultra is worth it as toms has shown in its 9800gx2 review.
