Now here's an interesting topic...

As per the new price of the the Radeon 3870 ($160), you can buy

1)THREE 3870s for the price of a 3870X2, ...... or

2)THREE 3870s AND a mobo for less than a 9800 GX2 .... I'm guessing three 3870s beat the potty out of a GX2

You've got ~$600...what would you do? a 9800GX2 or Tri SLI 3870 on a great new board?

Let the fight begin

tri xfire 3870 - i trust their architecture more and think that with contined driver updates it could be a LOT more competitive once the true DX10 games come out

If I had $600 I'd find a hell of a lot better things to do with it than waste it on any of the above.

Well i have mostly the same rig like you and i waiting to see what 9800GTX can do to deside...(do the same and dont spend so much money on card's lol)

Tri 3870, even if we don't know yet how much better it will be. But, I can almost assure you (99.9% sure...) that the 3 3870's will beat a single 9800gx2, no problem.

If I had $600, though, I wouldn't buy either...lol. That would be enough for me to do another full system upgrade (I mean everything... CPU, Ram, Mobo, video card, case, PSU, etc...)

Ah i see ppl arent living in denial :) ... dats great....btw i have NO intention of spending $600 on a GPU..let alone the ridiculous 9800GX2.........

i wanted to royally bash the pricing strategy of the GX2... $600 for this performance is carnal sin...

And to anyone who's foolish enough to buy the GX2, well DON'T. Buy three 3870s instead!!

Now I expect a zillion hate mail/posts from Nvidia fanbois and prolly a restraining/gag order from Nvida ...hehehe...
