Ok my current system is:

E8400 Wolfdale OC'd 3.6ghz
4gb of Crucial Ballistix Ram
Western Digital 250gb Caviar
Asus Maximus Formula Mobo
BFG 750w powersupply
8800GTS 320mb

everything is new except the 8800GTS and i really want to replace it because i still cant get decent fps at all very high in Crysis at 1280x1024 resolution, and was wondering what would be the most effective card to achieve that and get a good 50-80 fps on all very high at said resolution,
i was thinking a 3870 x2 or 8800GTS 512 (g92) as a cheaper solution, but Im hoping someone out there has a system similar to mine and knows what i should get to achieve said fps at said settings

Your mobo doesnt support Sli which is a bummer, 9600gt in Sli would suit you good...

You wont be getting very high on Crysis on any card accept the 9800gx2...

second 9800GX2 if you have about 600 to burn

9800GX2 or 3870X2

Go with the 8800 gts (g92), its a great performer, and isnt going to run you 600-700+ dollars. Its only a few frames slower then a gtx or ultra, while being significantly cheaper.

yes, but i also want to sort of buy a card that will last like the GTX did, so i was thinking the 8800GTS 512 too but i have a feeling it wont be such a contender in a not such a long period of time where as the 9800GX2 or considerably cheaper but similar 3870x2 feel as though they might stick around a bit longer.

and ive been reading up on it and have heard both good and bad things but, is it alright to get a PhysX card?
theres only a handful of games that support it but if its going to start being supported by a lot of upcoming games it should be a worthy investment right?
or maybe hold off, sense this is the first generation of physx cards and the next ones (hypothetical next ones) should be considerably more refined, but still thats why im here id like to know everybody's opinion

dont get a physix card, wait until nvidia incorporates it into there own, plus there crap, thats why no one brags about them. And until ati gets the ball rolling, and comes out with a single card solution thats rivals nvidia, what you see is what you are going to get, go read the toms forums on the 9800x2, and then if you want spend the cash for the card, personally i think its a pile, for the price your performance gains dont justify it, but thats my opinion, also im not one of those people who eagerly lets money slide through my fingers, i work for a living, and dont own a credit card. lolol

hypothetically speaking if i were to buy a 9800GX2 or 3870 x2 where the hell do get the second 8pin connector? i only have 2 4pins that become 1 8pin and thats used to power my motherboard
does that meen i have to get a new psu as well

nah, get a converter to convert your 6 pin to a 8, or mebbe ati includes one with the card, im just guessing here, im a nvidia user myself.
