Hey, guys! I have been wondering... There are many "rumors" (Well, actually, more than this...) that Intel will release a new Wolfdale named E8600, with 3.33GHZ, 1333 FSB and 65W TDP, to "compete" with AMD's Triple Core and so on. Well, taking a good look at the names currently used by Intel it's obvious that there's plenty of room to improve the Wolfdale lineup. Perhaps an E8*50 might arrive soon, with a 1600 FSB ou larger cache? We all know that Nehalem is just around the corner, yet, most people will stay away from it during the initial relese (with me being one of them), since it would be frustrating to have your super-new-good-looking-overpriced-uber-high-end-chipset being replaced after 6 months (even if it's a lot better than the old architecture). So, what do you think about it? Might we see new Wolfdales soon?

Haven't heard the rumors. But the "Extreme" versions of 45nm Yorkfield quads already use 1600mhz fsb. Nehalem comes with new socket, so we'll have to get new overpriced motherboards along with the overpriced cpu.
I can't imagine a Wolfdale at 3.33GHz only being rated at 65W.... Surely it would be higher?
I would imagine the 45nm Core 2's are going to last a while as well. Nehalem isn't what I'd describe as around the corner and I'm sure there will be more delays prior to release, being Intel's first new architecture for several years (obviously excluding the 65nm>45nm die shrink).
All Intel has to do is up the FSB on current models and rename them. I wouldnt hold out for a factory 1600fsb when the 1333 ones go atleast 1600. Why pay intel to oc your chip for you.
I cant wait for the e7400 to roll out. That should be the ultimate price/performer.
So, perhaps we might see at least some Wolfdale with higher clocks, close to 3.6 or 4.0 GHZ, during Q3 or Q4?
Personally I doubt it, unless AMD have some very quick 2 or 3 core K10's I doubt Intel will bother to release stock clocked CPU's that high.
I reckon AMD would have to release stock pieces clocked at around 3-3.2GHz before Intel would bother cranking out higher-clocked Wolfdales.
