I am patiently waiting for the price drop.  I may just have to squeeze an extra 3870 card into my budget.  I just hope my power supply is up for the task  :p

Wow.  3 of them and a mobo for less than the GX2.  I'd like to see some benchmarks comparing a 3way crossfire vs. the 9800GX2...

Just because ATI drops the price for the 3850 and 3870 we'll just see if retailers follow up with the price drop.
Large retailers and wholesalers buy products by the thousand(s).
Consumers may not see a product price drop until June/July. And that will be at the discretion of the wholesalers and retailers.

Then they arent going to sell them. People wont wait for their old stock to sell out and pay the old price when they know they can get it cheaper now from a small computer shop who doesnt have the stock overhead and just orders as needed. (but is a certifed ATI dist.)

Aye agreed,

I would use 3-way SLI with 9600's before I bought a 9800X2.

There is NO new architecture in the 9800 that you would be missing out on.

This is kinda like the X1900XT and X1950Pro pricing toward the end of 2006. Definitely a good deal, and anyone complaining about the prices of cards really has nothing to go on with the HD38xx and GF9600 so cheap.

@thecumpukid - Only 8800GTX and 8800Ultra support 3 way crossfire ATM.  I think 9800GTX will as well.  Ontario = great place to drink when you're 19-20 and a decent place to pick up 19-20 year old young woman after   I'm right across the border, and keep bringing your money across to the U.S., Michigan's economy needs it!

@TGGA - Totally agree, prices are very good for quality cards, much better than 5-6 months ago.

Crossfire is ATI's technology, and you can use up to four 3870s in a Crossfire configuration. The 8800GTX and Ultra are the only cards that currently support 3-way SLI.

Why cant we Nvidia lovers rejoice? I am probably going triple crossfire with the 3870's now, unless the 8800 series go below the $150 mark.

It's a never ending saga dude.  I got my GTS 2 months ago for $300 and now they are going down like $50 already.

Shoot, you can get an 8800GTX for $300 now on newegg. What is amazing, is that the GTX is still basically the top card this long after its release.

This is why I never spend more than $150 on a video card.  It is too frustrating to know that I spent $300 on something that can be had for half the price in as little as 3-6 months.

Well, that and my fiance would kill me  lol

Well, I use them in various builds and really don't pay for the video cards.

I bought an x1950Pro for $160, sold it a good bit later for $110, picked up the 8800GTS 320 for $280, then work had me build a video editing/rendering/encoding/visual rig and I used the GTS in it and they bought me the 8800GT.

So, basically, I get free (or close to free) upgrades quite often.
