1st off, I have a Sony VGC-rc110g with a X300 vid card.
1st monitor, 17" standard max resolution 1280-1024 (VGA)
2nd monitor, 20" WS max resolution 1680-1050 (DVI)
OS Windows xp MCE sp2

That is how I want it set up but was told by sony support that
" since the maximum supported resolution for your Desktop is 1280 x 1024. The maximum resolution for the second monitor cannot be extended beyond the maximum resolution supported by the Desktop."

Does anyone know if this is true? Is there no way to get above 1280 x 1024 resolution on my 20" WS.
I do have a reasons for keeping my 17" as my primary monitor (basically what programs open on it)

Any thoughts would be great.

Ok, Bump!

Doesn't anyone have a secondary display running at a higher resolution than their primary?
How can I tell the maximum resolution of my video card? is that the limiting factor here?
ps. This is only a work computer so gaming is a concern -- just the resolutions

cheers
