Freezing Up Laptop

Hello,
My laptop screen and pointer freeze for about 8 seconds, then unfreezes for about 2 seconds. This only happens after it has been on for about 15 minutes or longer, and has not been touched for several minutes. If I never quit using the laptop, no problem. If I restart the laptop, everythings fine again, untill I let it sit idle again. Any suggestions? Thanks

Check you power saving settings in Control Panel. Maybe computer is going into Standby mode and is taking only 8 seconds to wake up.

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Power Options.

You'll see the various settings there for what the machine will do after allotted time passes. The one under "System Standby" might be the culprit. Under the Hibernate tab, do not have hibernate enabled.
The "unfreeze" and then freeze thing may be your hard drive spinning up again (takes a little time).

Thanks, I went in and changed that, now I'll see if it works. I'll let you know either way.
