Hi there,

I've been trying to find a useful feature that I used on my Windows 2000 Pro
pc, on my new XP Pro pc.

On a Win2k Pro ( as well as on a 2000 Server) system, when browsing to a
network share, ie., \\computername\foldername, Windows Explorer would
display capacity information about the share. ie., Capacity: 60 GB, Used:
30GB Free: 30Gb, along with a pie chart to visually display the capacity.

I've been poking around on Windows XP as well as on a Win2k3 server and
haven't been able to find this feature.

Is there anyway of enabling this view?

Thanks,

Shannon

If you click on properties it will show the "pie" chart.

Pardon me, I made a mistake in that posting. I can get the size of the
folder within a share, but I'm looking to get the size of the share itself,
without having to go directly to the server, then to the folder's
properties.

On the win2k system, the capacity would be displayed instantly. Having to
go into a folder's properties, you need to wait for the size to be
calculated, which is time consuming on folders that are really large.

For me, this is a really useful feature in getting a quick view of the share
capacities on our SAN. I'd really like to find out how if possible to
enable it on XP.

XP canot (or dose not) show this information for folders accessed
using computer paths (eg \computer1c$) how ever if you where to map
this as a network drive, it dose! now isnt that some thing.
