So I downloaded the coolbits hack for nvidia and for fun I just ran the 'detect optimal' test. Now the stock card speed 576 core/1998 memory. After running the test it told me my optimal speeds will be 758 core/1293x2 memory/1600 shader. This seems pretty high. Is coolbits really that accurate?

I'm going to test out your settings over 24 hrs at 758/1634 1293x2 and let you know. I have dual screens so I can play games on one and watch the temp/performance using the precision tool on the other. It looks like it idles at 45 c at these settings which is only 10 c over stock. Also I spoke with EVGA and they stated that as long as temps stay under 80c everything is cool. I hope these settings work with fan at 91%. I'll get back with you soon!! I hope they work!

Nope, Not stable at these settings. EVGA recs that at most that you use the superclocked versions settings which are 626/1349 1052x2 with fan at 80%. Your settings were fine until I loaded up crysis and the system crashed. It works fine with the slightly higher superclocked settings. Not too much of a noticeable difference. Only 5% increase in frame rate. Oh, well I'll take it. Saves me $20 from buying the superclocked version of the core 216. Overall I am very happy with this card. I bought it for $247 + tax and a $25 mail in rebate from Microcenter.com. They will match neweggs prices. I couldn't bring myself to justifying paying $200 more for the gtx 280.

Take Care!

Just up the settings slightly. for me 700/1500/1200memory is fine when I need the extra gpu power.

I never use coolbit before, but any software that tells you to increase your clocks is never perfect. I've tried ATI Tools and Ntune, both recommend settings that the card would crash on, so take those settings with a grain of salt.

I agree, I tried the 700 and 1200 clock and that is about as far as I can take it .... That works great.. I'm just going to leave the overclock settings for everyday use...

I have everything on my system slightly overclocked and all together it makes a huge difference.

q6600 2.4 overclocked to 3.0 Ghz CPU temps < 40 c
260 Core 216 overlocked to 626/1349 1053 GPU temps <50 c
800 DDR2 memory latency settings from 5/5/5/18 to 4/4/4/12 advanced latency
EVGA 680 i 1066 FSB overclocked to 1333 Board Temps < 35 c

I Figured If I bought everything at the higher settings stock would have cost me About $400 more
I'm going to build an i7 next month when the sales come out. Can't wait to see how it works with DD3 1600 memory! I enjoy building systems for friends and family and don't charge extra save them 50%. Don't know if Vista Ultimate 64 if worth the extra cash over the Home Premium 64. Anyone use Ultimate??
