I have a MicroATX Case (Gateway) that came with an ECS MB. It's BIOS was locked and I hated it. Since getting rid of it, I have tried everything, ASUS, MSI, Biostar. With each I had the same problem - a high pitched dog-whistle from somewhere on the board that drove me NUTS!
Anyway, I went to the local TigerDirect store to return my latest ASUS disappointment, and the only NEWER board they had that was AM2/Phenom Compatible was the ECS GeForce6100PM-M2. Very cheap - just cost me around $50 US with tax. Didn't want to but I bought it anyway.
Anyway, got it home, installed my AMD 6000+ and NVidia 8800 GT card, 4 gigs of 6400 ram (2 sims) and fired her up.
To my shock, totally silent, flawless operation. I mean, this thing is SO quiet that I almost can't hear it at all. It also seems to just "work" better. Faster boots, games run smoother - just better. Also, although the BIOS isn't a "gamer's dream" it does have some attractive features for such an uber-cheap board.
Anyway, if you are looking for a cheap MB for your MicroATX case, get this one. I am very happy.
