I brought a Maxtor external hardrive in 2007. However it is now broken and I cannot access it. I have called up Seagate who now own Maxtor and they have said that they can only replace my Maxtor 3200 with a restored 3200. I know they don't make these models anymore and I am wondering how can I get Seagate to replace my hardrive with an upgraded model instead. The guy on the phone said there was some way Seagate could probably do this if i build up a case or something like that.. he wasn't very specific as the phone conversations are recorded. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
It all depends on your warranty policy. If you're really entitled to a free replacement, you also have to check what "replacement" really means.
Personally, I don't know why Seagate would replace your old hard disk with a newer, "upgraded" model. Unless you were willing to pay extra for the new drive?
