i have been lookin at the differences between p5k and p5k-e and there arent many!!!
one has Wifi card... 1more pci x1 slots.. few more usb ports.. nothing major
what im wondering is which of those boards has the best onboard audio???
one has ADI® AD1988B
and the other one Realtek ALC 883
any idea which one is better??!
i have logitech z-5500 and i wanna take full advantage of its power! or would i be better off with a 50$ sound card??
tx in advance for your opinion/expertise

1988B I think. The more expensive boards with SupremeFX use that one.
There's not much of a difference. Both are rubish if you really care about quality. An X-Fi card would make a lot of difference (not the PCIE version).
Not sure about other $50 cards (X-Fi Extreme Music was excellent for $100 about 12 months back).

100$ is expensive for a soundcard when u pay ur mb 130$;p
1988B is the one on the p5k-e which is 150$ while the p5k is 130$ so it somewhat makes sense
anyone else has any idea? or is there a way for me to check the specs further for the onboard sound?

Unless you read specific reviews for specific boards where they test onboard sound quality (guru3d.com is one such site, so is bit-tech.net, and a few others) you will not find anything usefull. Just a bunch of marketing text with big numbers that mean nothing. 1988B would be my pick. If not for other reasons the P5K-E has a very good reputation (and P5K is the color of a sick dogs s*it if you care for visuals).
