I currently have an 8800GTX and is used for dual monitors. I'm planning on buying an 1080P HDTV and Blu-ray drive for my PC. Can I add another 8600GT and use it to power the HDTV and play blu-ray? I'm not looking for SLI. I just want another card dedicated to playing Blu-ray. I have an emply PCI-Express 4x slot available. Is this possible? Thanks.

I run an 8800GTX paired with an 8600GT for a 3 monitor setup and have no problems at all.

Have you tried Blu-ray or HD output on the 8600GT? Is it flawless?

Yes you just can't SLI unless they are identical GPU's.  Other than that it would work for your situation.
