Hi guys, I have been coming to Tomshardware for my gosh it must be 12 to 13 years now. I love the site but it seems that the information I am looking for is getting harder and harder to find. I curruntly have a AMD X2 6000+ system back home in the states. It has a ageing nvidia nforce 4 sli chipset. I also have a pair of 8600gtx's in sli mode, 2 gigs of ddr2 800 ram and a pair of raptors in a raid array.
I am here in the Philippines (just got married) and I am finding that most computer stuff is cheap!!! I feel like a kid with a blank check in a candy store LOL. Any way I feel that my raptors are starting to show their age now and and can get sata 180gig seagate barracuda drives for about $30. I was thinking of getting 4 or them to run in a stripe array if I could. I am also going to get a new mainboard when I get home (Asus Crosshair II Formula) http://www.asus.com/products.aspx? [...] odelmenu=1 hopefully it will be released soon....
Any input you guys may have would be gladly accepted. What do you all think of my choices with mainboards and harddrives? I plan on getting a 3rd card for tripple sli....Thanks
You cannot run 8600GTS (I assumed it was a GTS 'cause there is no 8600 GTX) only 8800 GTX, 8800 Ultra, 9800 GTX can run 3 way sli(9800 GX2 can run quad sli, if you have the money). You can use 4 HDD if you like it will be alot faster than those raptors, but it will increase the risk of data lost.

Oh thanks...I have been away from my pc for over 2 months how soon I forget my babies details.... I guess its the gts's...this kind of bums me out I was looking foward to 3 way sli...well I guess I should find a different mainboard then if I cant use tri-sli... I'm not to concerned about data loss with 4 disk...I had it happen once with the raptors...one failed and had to be sent back but I store all my important stuff on a 200gig ide disk.
Sorry if I posted this thread in the wrong forum, I guess it should of been under the storage section.
