apologies if in wrong section but i would like to know if my asus p5k-vm would be able to take video cards that mention ddr3

If it goes into the PCI-Ex16 slot why does it matter about GDDR3/2

I don't think it matters. GDDR3 is faster than GDDR2, so always try to pick a graphics card that has GDDR3 or better.

Your board should not have a problem with GDDR3, GDDR4, or GDDR5 for that matter.

if the card is a PCIe card, then it doesn't matter what type of video memory it uses It will work with your system.

Yea it will be fine and is preferable to a GDDR2 card as a Gddr3 card will be faster. Dont know what card you are looking at but if you have the choice between say a 7600GT with GDDR2 or GDDR3 always get the GDDR3 one.

so when i get a graphics card how would i connect it to my crt monitor after i place it in the pci-e slot

Reply to gamer383

Plug the monitor into the video card. If your monitor takes a different cable, then there are adapters that will help you. Try looking for a DVI to VGA adapter.
