Hello all. I have finally convinced my wife to let me upgrade my pc. I'm currently running an athlon xp and a radeon 9700 pro, so I am desperately in need of an upgrade. I have tried to do a little research, but I will be the first one to admit that I am behind the times as far as hardware is concerned.

The pc will be used primarily for gaming, namely wow, Cod4, CoH, and Warhammer when it finally comes out. I have a 22 inch lcd, and a quality mouse and keyboard. I also have a good set of speakers. I plan on using my current xp pro disk until this summer, when I will upgrade to Vista. I'm a teacher, so I can get it for disgustingly cheap through the school. My budget is somewhere between $1000-$1500. Anyways, here is the list of parts that I have come up with. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

1. Case - Antec 900 - 139.99 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16811129021
2. CPU - E8400 Wolfdale 239.99 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16819115037
3. MoBo - GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3P 149.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128083
4. PSU - CMPSU-620HX 169.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139002
5. Graphics Card - GeForce 8800GT 229.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150253
6. Ram - 4GB Ram 133.99 http://crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=GA-EP35-DS3P%20%28rev.%202.1%29
7. Optical Drive - Black 20X DVD+R 32.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106072
8. Hard Drive - WD Caviar SE16 99.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073

The total I have here is roughly $1100, but all the prices are directly from newegg.com. I've found a few of the items cheaper elsewhere. I just listed the newegg address for ease of access.

Thank you very much for your time.

Edited to get the links working right.

Your links are broken. They won't take me anywhere.

What brand PSU is that?Graphics? etc..

I see you have a P35 chipset. If you ever want SLI you will need an nvida board. Just FYI. for the most part it locks normal. what speed memory do you have? are you planning to Overclock at all? Should play your games fine.

Fixed links, so they should work now.

I am planning on some basic overclocking. Nothing too extreme though.

I don't have any plans on going SLI, so thats why I went with the P35 chipset. I thought about going to an x38, but most of what I have been able to find on the internet says that they are pretty buggy.

Ok I only have a few comments, other than that is a good build. That case is a good one, they are large though.

Video card. I am not a fan of the 8800GT stock cooler. Even though I love XFX and eVGA as well, I'd opt for the MSI with the better cooler.

Great PSU, Good mobo.

Hard Drive wise, i personally would opt for a Seagate 7200.11 or ES.2 Drive. They have 32MB cache and are pretty speedy.

As far as memory. I'd go with some higher end sticks off Newegg. Not sure why you picked the Crucial Site. Wtih an e8400 I would go with something higher than PC26400 memory. They will be 1:1 at 400MHZ bus and you are already at 333 with that chip. You will want something like 8000 or 8500 memory.

I didn't even think of that. I'm a big fan of the 8800GTS 512 over the GT's. Yeah you are looking at $60-$100 more. But it's worth the cooler and little extra performance. Mainly the cooler. I OCed mine to 750/1000 without a sweat and Doesn't really run much hotter. Maybe 1-2C and that's it. I wouldn't want to mess with the GT heat issues.

You can get the power supply for less $$$ here;
http://www.buy.com/prod/corsair-620w-sli-certified-modular-atx-power-supply/q/loc/101/203270718.html
Newegg now has 2X2 Crucial Ballistix, which are cheaper than what you're getting;

The DVD drive can be hit or miss, have used some Lite-on that were OK and some that would only make coasters. Look at this drive;

Lastly, if your going to overclock you might want to consider a cooler like this;

I was under the impression that the GT cards were a step up from the GTS, but a step down from the GTX.
