Hello,

can anyone tell me on a Asus P5Q Pro if i can OC the bus to 400MHz to achieve FSB1600 _but_ keeping DDR2-800 modules working at stock speed 800MHz?

The idea is to assure ratio 1:1.
Please assume a FSB1333 CPU like E8400.

Thanks a lot for the help.

DDR RAMs run at double the FSB rate. So, if you set FSB to 400Mhz, your DDR800 RAM will run at 800Mhz (400 x 2), which would be 1:1 ratio.

FSB1333 CPU like E8400 means it's supposed to run at FSB 333Mhz so it will be overclocked when you set FSB to 400Mhz. However, CPU's FSB rating has nothing to do with your RAM ratio. Only the actual FSB and RAM's rated FSB matters when figuring out the ratio.

In short, you should be fine with that set up. Just be sure to get sufficient cooling for CPU.
