I want to rally all motherboard and case manufacturers to work on standard pin layouts and a single plug in adaptor for the front panel ( ie the power, hd, reset and power light connector ) in to a single plug as aposed to 4 different connectors..

Just like - firewire, front panel audio and usb...

Why is this the last connector on the shelf, it will tidy up our bulds... instead of flimsy wires all over the place

I agree with you but every case is unique - they have different amounts of USB/Firewire ports (if any), some have a case speaker etc... it would pretty hard to have one connnector but I agree that it should be more easy/tidy than it currently is.

I think he/she is talking about the wab of wires that makes up power button, reset button, hdd led, power led...etc. USB ports are tidy by comparasion. :p

I think about this every time I swap out a motherboard or build a new system. At least they have standardized the USB, firewire, and audio connectors - they were terrible a few years ago when you had to connect each pin individually.

There should be one standardized 2x4 connector that includes pins for:

1. Power Switch
2. Reset Switch
3. Power LED
4. HDD LED

The front speaker should be kept separate - it is annoying and I usually leave it disconnected most of the time anyway.

Aww... it's not annoying, it's the BSOD that comes with the beep that's annoying. :na:
